This forum will create valuable networking opportunities for faith\ncommunity nurses who want to reenergize their practice as well as those starting out. \nOutcome 1: Summarize start-up considerations for launching a faith community nursing practice. \nOutcome 2: Describe two strategies for local FCN practice sustainability. \nOutcome 3: Discuss how professional involvement and continuous improvement at the national level contributes to professional practice. \nDate and time: November 24\, 2025\, 10:30am-1:00pm Pacific\nPlatform: Zoom\nFacilitator: Marcy Shanks\, MSN\, MSEd\, RN\, Faith Community Nurse \nCost: $30*\nRegister: faithcommunityhealthnetwork.org/events \nThis nursing continuing professional development activity was approved by Oregon Nurses Association\, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation. Approval valid through 11/24/2027 – OCEAN ID #2025-32. An evaluation is required for successful course completion. Due to ANCC requirements\, students must attend the entire session. Because of the highly interactive nature of the forum\, we cannot excuse students except in the case of emergencies (illness\, attendance at funerals for next of kin). In those cases\, we will allow a student to miss no more than ten minutes. A course completion certificate cannot be granted unless the RN student meets these attendance requirements. \n* There is no charge for this offering for graduates of the 2025 Foundations of Faith Community Nursing Course (FFCN); the cost of this nursing continuing professional development offering is included in the 2025 FFCN registration fee.

SUMMARY:Friday Huddle: Extended Cut with Sen. Jeff Merkley
DESCRIPTION:OCN is hosting a special Friday Huddle: Extended Cut — on a Tuesday! Join us on Tuesday\, September 16 at 1:30 pm PT for a virtual nursing workforce discussion with U.S. Senator Jeff Merkley and Oregon nurses. \nDuring this event\, Senator Merkley will participate in a 30-minute conversation focused on upcoming federal healthcare policy changes and what they mean for the nursing workforce. This is a unique opportunity to hear directly from one of Oregon’s U.S. Senators about how policy decisions in Washington\, D.C. shape nursing practice\, staffing\, and the future of healthcare delivery in our state. \nWe invite Oregon nurses to play an active role in this discussion. Participants are encouraged to submit questions or share stories in advance using this form. While we may not be able to include every submission\, our goal is to reflect a wide range of nursing experiences and perspectives. The deadline to submit is Friday\, September 12. \nSenator Merkley has represented Oregon in the U.S. Senate since 2009\, consistently engaging with healthcare professionals and advocating for policies that affect the well-being of both patients and providers. His participation in this Friday Huddle: Extended Cut underscores the importance of including nurses’ voices in shaping healthcare policy. \nAt OCN\, our mission is to strengthen the nursing workforce and create spaces where nurses can connect\, share\, and influence change. This conversation with Senator Merkley highlights the vital role nurses play in policy discussions that impact staffing\, workplace well-being\, and patient care. \nDon’t miss this Senator Jeff Merkley nursing workforce discussion. Register today to ensure your place in this important dialogue and join us in elevating the voice of Oregon nurses in federal healthcare policy. \nTo Register: Click Here
